Tasty Prawn Vada
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Prawns cooked
- 1/4 cup Groundnut roasted, Kadala
- 10-12 nos Shallots chopped, Kujulli
- 1 piece Ginger — sliced
- 4 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 3/4 cup Coconut — grated
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 1/4 cup Coriander leaves — chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Prawn vada, grind prawns, roasted groundnut, shallots, ginger, green chillies, coconut, pepper, coriander leaves and salt in a mixy.
Step 2
Make balls out of the mixture and press it as for parippuvada.
Step 3
Fry it in oil.
Step 4
Prawn vada is ready. Serve hot.

Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
