Sweet And Sour Raisin Chutney
Ground fresh and served immediately, this chutney hits all the right notes — heat from the chillies, richness from coconut, and a sharp tang that cuts through rich curries and fried foods.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 200 g Raisins
- 3 nos Dried red chillies (Kollamulaku)
- 3 nos Green chillies
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 tsp Tamarind (Puli)
- 1 tbsp Honey
- Salt A pinch
Preparation
Step 1
Soak raisins in warm water for half an hour. Drain out excess water.
Step 2
Blend raisins in a little warm water for half a minute.
Step 3
Drain excess water.
Step 4
Add the rest of the ingredients to the raisin paste and blend to get a thick chutney.
Step 5
This chutney is a good combination with Biryani. :- Can be served Chilled or at room temperature. :- Number of chillies can be varied according to one`s desired spice level requirement.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
