Spinach With Rice
A one-pot rice dish that brings together grains, spices, and vegetables or meat in a single satisfying meal. The rice absorbs every flavour in the pot and comes out fragrant, colourful, and complete.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 2 cup Basmati rice/Plain rice
- 2 cup Spinach — chopped
- 4 Cloves Garlic — chopped
- 11/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 11/2 tsp Garam masala
- 1 tsp Sambar powder
- 4 tbsp Ghee
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Cook basmati rice in 4 cups water. Let the water evaporate completely. Set aside.
Step 2
Get a vessel and pour ghee. Heat the ghee and add cumin seeds and chopped garlic. cook for a few seconds.
Step 3
Stir in chopped spinach and cook until spinach is tender and water has evaporated completely.
Step 4
Add garam masala and sambar powder. cook in low heat and Stir everything together thoroughly adding required salt.
Step 5
Stir cooked rice into the spinach mixture and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
Spinach with rice, an excellent and nutritious dish is complete. Serve with curd and onion salad.
Tip
Soak the rice for at least 20 minutes before cooking. This ensures even cooking and prevents the grains from breaking.
