Simple Recipe For Soft Kerala Unni Appam
Simple and Straight Recipe to prepare soft Unni Appams at home.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 2 Tea Rice Flour Ari podi
- 1, medium Jaggery (Sharkkara)
- 2 tbsp Sesame Seeds Ellu
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 4 tbsp Coconut Pieces Thenga Khotthu cut in small pieces
- 3 - Plantain Palayamgoden Pazzham
- 2 pinch Salt
- 4 nos Cardamom powdered form (Elakka)
- 1 pinch Cumin Seeds — optional (Jeerakam)
Preparation
Step 1
Mix all the ingredients together with enough water make it to a sticky but not very loose batter or paste. Best mixing can be done in a mixer. One minute grinding will do.
Step 2
Get a big full round spoon and pour into the heated oil in the unni appam tray.
Step 3
Fry both sides, till it becomes golden brown.
Step 4
- Serve hot.
Tip
A well-seasoned appachatti is worth the investment. The appam should release from the pan without any resistance.
