Simple Mutton Curry
Soft and chunks of mutton cooked in a spicy masala mixture make Simple Mutton Curry a favorite tempting dish that goes well with almost anything.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1/2 kg Mutton sliced, washed and — drained
- 1 cup Pearl onions (Kunjulli)
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 2 nos Tomato — chopped
- 1" piece Ginger
- 5 - Garlic cloves
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Chilly powder
- 2 tbsp Coriander powder
- 1/2 tbsp Cumin powder (Jeerakam)
- 2 Sticks Cinnamon (Karugapatta)
- 4 nos Cloves (Grambu)
- 1 tsp Fennel (Perinjeerakam)
- 2 nos Cardamom (Elakka)
- Curry leaves A, a few
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Simple Mutton Curry, first heat some oil in a pan.
Step 2
Cook cinnamon, cloves, fennel, and cardamom.
Step 3
Add whole pearl onions and fry for sometime.
Step 4
Add ginger and garlic and cook for sometime.
Step 5
Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and coconut and fry well.
Step 6
Allow it to cool.
Step 7
Grind the masala with water to a fine paste.
Step 8
Add this masala mixture to the mutton pieces along with tomatoes and curry leaves in a pressure cooker.
Step 9
Cook, until done.
Step 10
Delicious and Simple Mutton Curry is ready.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
