Semiya Banana Snack | Semiya Kai Pola | Vermicelli Banana Cake
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 2 nos Banana — cut into small squares
- 1/2 cup Vermicelli
- 5 nos Egg
- 1+2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 cup Milk
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
- 10 nos Cashew nuts
- Salt Pinch
- 3+2 tbsp Ghee
Preparation
Step 1
Heat 3 tbspghee in a pan and Roast the banana,raisins and cashew nuts until lightly browned.set aside.
Step 2
Dry Roast the vermicelli till golden brown.
Step 3
Boil milk in a saucepan and add the roasted vermicelli and 1 tbsp sugar and a pinch of salt.
Step 4
Let it go for 4-5 minutes,more till the vermicelli gets cooked and the milk thickens. When the vermicelli has softened and cooked well, turn off the heat.
Step 5
In a bowl blend egg and 2 tbsp sugar very well.
Step 6
Add cooked vermicelli,banana and cardamom powder into the egg mixture.Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 7
Heat ghee in a saucepan and pour it.
Step 8
Cover the lid and cook it on very low flame for about 20 minutes.
Step 9
Then flip the cake and cook the other side for 5 minutes.finally Insert a tooth pick or fork in the center and make sure it comes out clean.turn off the heat and let it cool.
Step 10

Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
