Sausage Uppumavu
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 2 nos Leftover Puttu medium sized pieces
- 1 nos Sausage frozen
- 1 nos Onion
- 1 nos Egg
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 2 Or Curry leaves
- 1 nos Green Chilly
- 1/4 tsp Pepper
- Red Chilly Powder A pinch
- 1 tsp Salt
Preparation
Step 1
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil.
Step 2
Fry the sausages lightly.
Step 3
When the sausages are done, put in the onions and cook the onions, till pink in colour.
Step 4
Beat the egg with salt and pepper and set aside.
Step 5
To the sauteed onions, add the curry leaves, green chillies splitted lengthwise and sprinkle a pinch of red chilly powder and cook this for a minute or so.
Step 6
Add the beaten egg and stir it in.
Step 7
Powder the puttu pieces with your hand and add it and stir in well.
Step 8
Add a little hot water and toss it for 2 min. Serve hot.
Tip
Let the dish rest for a few minutes after cooking. Flavours settle and meld during this time, and the texture often improves.
