Pottukadala Laddu
A traditional Kerala sweet that balances richness with restraint. Made with jaggery, coconut, and a careful hand, the sweetness is warm rather than overwhelming — the kind of flavour that lingers.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Gram Pottukadala — roasted
- 4 tbsp Ghee
- 1 cup Sugar — powdered
- 1 tsp Cardamom powder podi (Elakka)
- 4 tbsp Cashew nuts — crushed
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing pottukadala laddu, first heat pottukadala and grind it.
Step 2
Fry cashew nuts in ghee.
Step 3
Add powdered kadala, sugar and cardamom powder into ghee.
Step 4
Take it off the heat. and make laddus as lemon sized balls.
Step 5
Pottukadala laddu is ready.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
