Pottu Kadala (Roasted Gram) Chutney
A tasty side dish for dosa/idli and the dish is quite popular in breakfast menu. easy to prepare with very minimum ingredients.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1 cup Coconut — chopped
- 5 nos Green chillies
- 1/4 cup Pottu kadalai
- Asafoetida
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tsp Urad dal
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1 Red chilli
- Salt, as needed
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing pottu kadala(roasted gram) chutney, grind grated coconut with green chillies and pottu kadala.
Step 2
Add salt and asafoetida and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 3
Fry mustard seeds, urud dal and red chillies in coconut oil and add to the mixture.
Step 4
Pottu kadala chutney is ready.
Tip
The final handful of curry leaves should go in right at the end, off the heat — they should crackle and crisp in the residual heat.
