Pidi Curry / Pidi Payasam
Pidi curry / Pidi payasam is a malabari dish prepared during Eid and Bakrid.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1/ 2 cup Rice flour
- 1 Coconut
- 2 nos Banana ethapazam
- 2 cup Sugar can adjust to your taste
- 3 tbsp Raw rice — soak in little water and grind it
- 1 / Bengal gram dal
- 1 pinch Salt
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing pidi curry, firstly boil 1 / 2 of water with salt. When it starts to boil, add the rice flour, Stir everything together thoroughly and turn off the heat.
Step 2
Knead it well to a smooth dough.Make small pidis.
Step 3
After making all pidis, steam it for 10 minutes. And set aside.
Step 4
Cook the bengal gram dal until softened, drain it and set aside.
Step 5
Grate the coconut and make three extractions of coconut milk. Cut the bananas into small pieces. Cook it in 1 /4 cup of third milk with little sugar.
Step 6
Grind the soaked raw rice and cook it in the balance of third milk.
Step 7
Next step for making pidi curry is to add the second milk with sugar and stir continously.
Step 8
Next, add the cooked pidis, dal, bananas and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 9
Finally add first milk and give it a good stir.Do not boil, once the first milk has been added.
Step 10
Tasty, sweety Pidi curry is ready to serve. Serve it hot or cold.
Tip
The payasam will thicken significantly as it cools. Stop cooking when it is still slightly thinner than your target consistency.
