Pazham Pori Easy
Pazham Pori otherwise nicknamed Ethakka Appam is an all-time favorite and a snack of Malayalee population. These banana fritters are prepared from a variety of plantain named Nendrapazham.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 3 nos Banana not too ripe or Nenthra pazham (Ethakkai)
- All purpose flour(Maida
- 1 - Sugar
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- Cumin seeds — optional (Jeerakam)
- Oil — for deep frying
Preparation
Step 1
Mix together maida, tumeric, cumin, sugar and water to make a thick batter with a dropping consistency.
Step 2
Stir everything together thoroughly, till all lumps are gone.
Step 3
If too thick, add more water. :- If loose, add more maida. :- Adjust turmeric(for color) and sugar(for sweetness).
Step 4
Slice the bananas vertically into thin pieces.
Step 5
If the bananas are very big, u can cut it into 2 pieces first and then cut it length wise to make thin slices.
Step 6
Dip the slices of banana in the batter and coat it very well with the batter.
Step 7
Heat the oil in a deep-fry pan.
Step 8
Put the slices and fry both sides, till Pazham Pori(Fried banana) is fried well.
Step 9
Keep Pazham Pori(Fried banana) on kitchen tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Step 10
Serve Pazham Pori(Fried banana) hot.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
