Palai Style Beef Fry
A spicy and mouth watering beef dish very popular in Palai and its suburbs. The dish tastes great when prepared in coconut oil. served with parathas and appams.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 kg Beef boneless
- 2 nos Onions — chopped
- 2 nos Tomatoes — chopped
- 2 tsp Ginger Paste
- 2 tsp Garlic paste
- 2 tbsp Chilli pwdr
- 1 tsp Pepper pwdr
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3 tbsp Coriander powder
- Salt, to taste
- Cinamon two sticks, cloves4 nos
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1 cup Shallots — sliced
- Curry leaves and corriender leaves
- 1 tsp Garam masala
- 1 tbsp Vinegar
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the Dish, mix together all the above ingredients with sliced beef except shallots, curry leaves and coriander leaves. Stir everything together thoroughly and cook in a pressure cooker for 20 minutes until the beef is cooked and soft. In a kadai (i used munchatty ) take some coconut oil n cook chopped shallots,curry leaves n coriander leaves. Add the cooked meat n fry till dry n oil leaves the sides.add a pinch of garam masala powder n a little bit of pepper pwdr. Garnish with curry leaves n coriander leaves.
Step 2
Set a kadai on the stove (i used munchatty ) take some coconut oil and cook chopped shallots, curry leaves and coriander leaves.
Step 3
Add the cooked meat and slow roast or fry till dry. The meat should be well browned. Oil should leave the sides of the vessel. Add a pinch of garam masala powder and a little bit of pepper powder. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves.
Tip
The coconut pieces should get slightly crispy along with the beef. They add a textural contrast that makes the dish.
