Paalaada
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 10 servings
- 2 cup Maida
- 2 nos Eggs
- Water, to taste
- Ghee, to taste
- Sugar, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In a bowl, mix ingredients 1 to 3 and whisk thoroughly and make a liquid batter(paalappam batter consistency).
Step 2
Use non stick paalappam chatti and pour a spoonful of batter and spread it, by twisting the chatti with hands.
Step 3
Do not cover the chatti.
Step 4
Continue cooking for 2 to 3 minutes,until it gets cooked well.
Step 5
Spread a little ghee on the top.
Step 6
Spread a little sugar on the top.
Step 7
Roll it.
Step 8
Make one by one using the above method. Serve warm.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
