Ney Payasam | Ari Payasam | Temple Payasam
Nei Payasam is a classic preparation from Kerala. It is main Prasadam / Nivedyam offering in temples of Kerala. Ari Payasam is made with rice, jaggery, cardamom powder and grated coconut. These are all the ingredients that goes into this dish.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Payasam rice (Unakkalari)
- 6 piece Jaggery
- Salt Pinch
- 3 tbsp Garated coconut
- 1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
- 31/2 cup Water
- 1 tbsp Ghee
Preparation
Step 1
Soak rice for 20 minutes.Then wash well.
Step 2
Get a pressure cooker and pressure cook rice by adding water For 2 whistle in medium flame.
Step 3
Cook jaggery in little water and strain well.when the rice is well cooked,add jaggery and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Add salt,grated coconut,cardamom and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Now Let it cook for 5 minutes stirring continuously.Finally add ghee,check the taste and take it off the heat.
Step 6
So the Thick Ney Payasam is ready.
Tip
Keep stirring throughout — the cream that forms on the sides should be scraped back in. That is where the richness comes from.
