Nadan Thenga Chammanthi
It is a nice chutney for idly and dosa. It is very hard to imagine dosa and idly being served without coconut chutney.
Ingredientsfor 2 servings
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 Onion
- 4 Green chilly
- 1 piece Ginger
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Coconut oil
- 2 Red chilli
- 5 Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
Preparation
Step 1
Grind onion, coconut grated, green chilli and ginger in a mixer.
Step 2
Pour oil into a kadai and heat it, add mustards when it allow to crackles add red chilli and curry leaves. cook for a minute.
Step 3
Add grounded coconut mix to the kadai,add chilli powder to this and salt for a minute.
Step 4
Add salt and mix all well. Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Now nadan thenga chammanthi is ready to serve for idly and dosa.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
