Nadan Onion Thoran
Onion, coconut, green chillies and other ingredients are mixed well and cooked.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Onion — chopped
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 tbsp Green chillies
- 1 tsp Ginger
- Curry leaves, a few
- 2 nos Tamarind — soaked in water
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 tbsp Coconut oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing nadan onion thoran, mix all the ingredients with hand well.
Step 2
Heat the oil in kadai, let the mustard seeds crackle and fry the mixed ingredients. Close with a lid and cook.
Step 3
Cook it in low heat till the water drains completely.
Step 4
Onion thoran, a Nadan recipe is ready. Serve it when done.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
