Nadan Kerala Pepper Chicken | Nadan Kurumulaku Kozhi
Sweet, rich, and deeply satisfying — this is the snack that shows up at every Kerala celebration, temple festival, and Onam Sadya. Made with jaggery, coconut, and patience.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1 kg Chicken
- 2 large Onion
- 2 small Tomato
- 2 tsp Garlic — crushed
- 1 tsp Ginger — crushed
- 11/2 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
- 2 tsp Pepper powder
- 3 tbsp Oil
- Coriander leaves, a few
- Curry leaves, a few
Preparation
Step 1
Pour oil into a pan and heat it and add crushed ginger and garlic and stir for a few seconds.
Step 2
Next, add onion and salt. cook until it becomes light golden in colour.
Step 3
Now it's time to add turmeric powder, red chilly powder and garam masala. cook well for 5 minutes in low flame.
Step 4
Next, add chicken pieces.
Step 5
Fold everything together gently and cover the top. Let it cook for 15 minutes in medium flame. Check whether chicken is cooked well.
Step 6
After 15 minutes add pepper powder, curry leaves and coriander leaves. Stir everything together thoroughly and cook again for 3-4 minutes.
Step 7
Finally add chopped tomatoes and cook for few minutes. take it off the heat.
Step 8
Nadan Kerala Pepper Chicken.
Step 9
Nadan Kurumulaku Kozhi is ready.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
