Nadan Kadachakka Thoran
Kadachakka Thoran is a styled Malayalee dish very popular in Kerala Cuisine. Kadachakka, also termed Breadfruit is a seasonal fruit widely cultivated in Kerala. Kadachakka Thoran is a tasty stir fry blended with an aromatic coconut mixture.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 nos Kadachakka
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 tsp Rice
- 4 nos Curry leaf
- 4 nos Red chilly
- 1 tsp Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Gram masala
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 nos Onion
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious stir fry, first wash and chop kadachakka into pieces.
Step 2
Pour oil into a kadai and heat it and add mustard seeds. When mustard allow to crackles, add red chilly and curry leaves. Stir for a minute.
Step 3
Add chopped kadachakka pieces to this and add turmeric powder. cook for a minute.
Step 4
Add 1 cup water to this and cook in low flame with a covered lid until the kadachakka pieces are done. Set aside.
Step 5
Heat grated coconut in another pan add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and gram masala. cook for 2 minute until coconut turns brown.
Step 6
When coconut becomes brown then switch off stove.
Step 7
Grind this mix in mixer with onion pieces to a coarse mixture.
Step 8
Add this ground mix to kadachakka mix in the kadai. Stir everything together thoroughly and stir for 2 minutes.
Step 9
Now kadachakka thoran is ready.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
