Nadan Kadachakka Masala Thoran
It is a side dish for rice and chapathi.It is a nadan dish in kerala.I love this recipe a lot.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 cup Kada chakka
- 1 Coconut — grated
- 1 tsp Mustard
- 1 tsp Red chili
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 tsp Rice
- 5 Curry leaves
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Gram masala
- 1 tsp Oil
Preparation
Step 1
Wash kada chakka and set aside.
Step 2
Pour oil into a kadai and heat it add mustards,when it allow to crackles add red chilly,rice and curry leaf Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add kada chakka and water to this and Let it cook for 5 minutes.
Step 4
In Heat the oil in a kadai and add grated coconut,turmeric powder,chili powder,gram masala and coriander powder.Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Grind it in a mixer with cumin seeds and small onion.
Step 6
Add this ground mix to kada chakka mix in kadai Stir everything together thoroughly and Let it cook for 2 minutes.
Step 7
Now nadan kadachakka masala thoran is ready.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
