Cooked low and slow until the masala melds into the gravy, this chicken curry carries the unmistakable warmth of Kerala spices — black pepper, curry leaves, and coconut. Pair it with steaming rice and a crisp pappadam.

Ingredientsfor 6 servings

500 g Chicken — cut into bite sized pieces
3 nos Onion — chopped
2 nos Tomato — chopped
2 nos Potato — cubed
4 nos Green chilly — chopped
2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
2 tsp Red chilly powder
1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp Coriander powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Garam masala
Coriander leaves, a few
Curry leaves, a few

Preparation

Step 1
Gather and prep all your ingredients before you begin.
Step 2
Cook all the ingredients except the ingredients for tempering.
Step 3
For tempering, Heat the oil in a clay pot and add shallots,stir for a few seconds and add dry red chilly,curry leaves and turn off the heat.
Step 4
Mix it with the curry.
Step 5
Naadan kozhi mulakittathu is ready.

The oil separating from the masala is your signal that the base is properly cooked. Do not add the main ingredient before you see those pools of oil on the surface.
