Naadan Breakfast With Chiratta Puttu
The breakfast that powers most of Kerala before 8 AM. Rice flour, grated coconut, and steam — nothing more, nothing less. The texture should be fluffy and loose, never dense or packed.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- Rice flour : 1 cup
- Coconut : ½ cup
- Water, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Heat a pan add water in it.
Step 2
When it boils add rice flour in to it and give it a good stir.
Step 3
Then make it in to a fine powder using a mixer.
Step 4
Then using a chiratta puttu maker make the steam cake with the help of a pressure cooker.
Step 5
Add coconut also in between the rice flour.
Step 6
Serve while still hot.
Tip
Coconut oil is the default cooking fat in Kerala kitchens. It adds a depth of flavour that other oils simply cannot match in these recipes.
