Muringapoo Thoran
Muringapoo Thoran or Drumstick Flowers Stir Fry is an awesome dish in South Indian Cuisine. Drumstick and drumstick leaves you would have heard quite well. Have you heard of Drumstick Flowers?.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 2 cup Muringappoo
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 Tblsp Red chilli powder
- 1 nos Onion Chop into small pieces
- 1 tsp Salt Add more if necessary
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 5 - 6 nos Curry leaves
- 2 Tblsp Coconut/Refined Oil
- 3 - 4 nos Sliced Green Chilli If possible, vertically — sliced
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in a Cheenachatti/Frying Pan and burst Mustard seeds in this hot oil.
Step 2
Add chopped onion and curry leaves and give it a good stir.
Step 3
Wait and stir in low flame till colour of onion and curry leaves turn into golden/brown,.
Step 4
Add the muringapoo along with red chilli powder and required quantity of salt and stir it further (without adding water).
Step 5
After colour of the mix changes into golden, add the grated coconut and stir it well.
Step 6
Cover the cheenachatti with a plate and cook the mix for another five minutes in medium flame.
Step 7
Muringapoo (Drumstick flowers) Thoran is ready. This thoran can be served with chappathi/poori/cooked rice.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
