Muringa Ela Thoran
A tasty green that goes perfect with hot rice. Muringa Ela or drumstick leaves is a nutritious green that can ward off diseases and keep you healthy. Muringa Ela Thoran should be included in your meal menu and should be prepared at least once a week.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 3 cup Drumstick leaves Muringa Ela
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 3 nos Dry red chillies
- 10 nos Shallots — chopped (Kunjulli)
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 5 Cloves Garlic — chopped
- 1 tsp Rice not cooked
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing muringa ela thoran, Heat the oil in a pan, allow to crackle mustard, rice and red chillies.
Step 2
Add shallots, garlic and fry.
Step 3
Add turmeric and muringa ela. Fry for 5 minutes. Sprinkle little salt water and cook.
Step 4
When done, add the grated coconut and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Muringa ela thoran is ready.
Tip
The pan should be completely dry when you finish — no moisture should remain. That dryness is what gives thoran its characteristic texture.
