Molagooshiam
Cherupayar paruppu, elephant yam, raw banana and other ingredients are cooked together - Molagooshiam.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Dal cheruparuppu
- ¼ kg Elephant yam
- 1 nos Raw banana
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp Pepper powder
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1 tsp Mustard seed
- 1 tsp Urud dal
- Red chilly – 1 no
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing molagooshiam, wash and boil dal (cheruparuppu) in cooker adding pinch of turmeric powder and enough quantity of water.
Step 2
Cut and wash elephant yam and raw banana and boil this also in cooker with sufficient quantity of water adding turmeric powder and salt. (Please note that item 1 and item 2 must be cooked in 2 different pots of the cooker).
Step 3
After boiling, mix item 1 and item 2 and cook for a few minutes. Add pepper powder then add curry leaves. 4)Fry mustard seed, urud dal and red chilliy in coconut oil add this to the mixture.
Tip
When the recipe says "medium heat," it means medium. Kerala cooking is not about high-flame drama — most of the work happens at a patient, steady temperature.
