Meen Ada
A famous Malabari dish mostly prepared during Ramadan.Normally, Meen Ada is prepared with fried Fish. But due to health reason, here I used non fried fish.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 250 g Fish / Prawns
- 3 Onion — finely chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic / ginger paste
- 4 Green chilli
- 1/ 2 tsp Garam masala
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- Coriander leaves
- Salt, to taste
- 2 Taste Oil
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the Meen Ada, firstly cook the cleaned fish with salt, a pinch of turmeric and pepper powder. Remove the bone, then minse with hand.Heat the oil in a pan, add chopped onion, ginger / garlic paste, green chilli and cook it, stirring well.
Step 2
Add all powders, coriander leaves and cook again.
Step 3
Finally add the minced fish into the pan and Stir everything together thoroughly. Let it cool. Now the filling is ready for Meen Ada.
Step 4
Boil water along with salt.When it starts to boil, add the rice flour and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Knead the dough thoroughly with your hands and make it round shaped balls.
Step 6
Get a ball size dough, and then press the dough using pathiri press or with your fingers ( Spread oil if needed )and make round shaped pathiris. ( ).
Step 7
Place the fish filling on the pathiri. Fold it and press the sides.
Step 8
Place the prepared ada in a steamer. let it go for 20 - 25 minutes.
Step 9
Now the Meen Ada is ready to serve. Serve hot with tea or coffee.
Step 10
You can use any fish. Here I used tuna fish.
Tip
The binding point is everything — cook the mixture just until it holds shape when pressed. Overcooked, it turns hard; undercooked, it crumbles.
