Masoor Dal Fry

Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 11/2 cup Masoor dal
- 1 Tomato
- 1 medium Onion
- 2 Green chilly
- Ginger small pc
- 3 Garlic
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Red chilly powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 cup Water
- For Tempering
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seed
- 3 Dry red chilly
- 2 Shallots — chopped
- Curry leaves, a few
Preparation
Step 1
Get a pressure cooker and add washed dal,chopped tomato,onion,green chilli,crushed ginger and garlic.pressure let it go for 1 whistle.
Step 2
Place a pan on the stove heat oil and allow to crackle mustard seed and add chopped shallots,when it turns to brown add dry red chilli and curry leaves,cook for 2 seconds and add into the cooked dal.
Step 3
Simple masoor dal fry is ready.
Tip
A heavy-bottomed pan or cast iron skillet gives you the best results for a proper Kerala fry. Thin pans burn the spices before the meat dries.
