Mango Chammandi With Dried Prawns
chammandi with dried prawns.Typical chammandi used to make during the mansoon season when raw fishes are very rare.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 25 g Dried prawns small chemmeen
- 1/2 Of Coconut — grated
- 5 nos Shallots (Kunjulli)
- 1/4 cup Raw mango — grated
- 2 tsp Chilly powder
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Coconut Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Heat a pan and put the prawns. Roast the prawns till the raw smell disappears.
Step 2
Get the pan from heat and extract the prawn beans.
Step 3
Crush the prawn in a mixer.
Step 4
Add coconut and mango and grind into a coarse form(not to a fine paste).
Step 5
Add chilly powder and salt. Chilly powder should be roasted in pan before use.
Step 6
Add shallots, crushed curry leaves and grind(please note that final product shouldn`t be in fine paste form).
Step 7
Let the mustard seeds crackle and mix it with the chammandhi.
Step 8
NB:- Chammandis wil be If we are using conventional AMMI instead of grinder.
Tip
Never stir a fish curry with a spoon. Shake the pot gently to coat the pieces — stirring breaks them apart.
