Mambazha Pachadi
Mango Pachadi is a mouth watering sweet dish traditionally prepared for Sadhya dishes which adds a varied dimension to the usual dishes. A dish that is ed most with hot rice.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 6 nos Ripe mangoes Mambazham
- 1/4 Of Coconut
- 1 tbsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 1 large Jaggery (Sharkkara)
- Salt, to taste
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1 tbsp Mustard seeds
- 1 - Dry red chillies (Kollamulaku)
- 2 tbsp Coconut oil
- 1/2 tsp Chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Mambazha Pachadi, first cut the mangoes on the larger sides so as to get two big pieces.
Step 2
Put the cut pieces along with the rest of the mangoes(together with the mango seed) in a vessel.
Step 3
Cook the mangoes by adding some water, chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Step 4
Add some jaggery.
Step 5
Grind the grated coconut and the cumin seeds together and add it along with the mangoes.
Step 6
Make sure that the curry doesn't become too watery.
Step 7
Remove from fire when the desired consistency is reached.
Step 8
Heat the oil in a small pan.
Step 9
Let the mustard seeds crackle followed by dry red chillies and curry leaves.
Step 10
Pour the above seasoning into the mango curry.
Step 11
Serve Mambazha Pachadi with rice.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
