Malabar Style Stuffed Chicken-Kozhi Nirachathu
Kozhi Nirachathu – Malabar Style Stuffed Chicken is much loved North Kerala Muslim specialty prepared at all special occasions including parties for newly married couples, Eid and Iftar.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1 medium Whole Chicken
- 1 large Onion
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- Curry leaves, a few
- Coriander leaves, a few
Preparation
Step 1
Wash and clean the whole chicken.
Step 2
Grind all the ingredients under "For Grind" to a smooth paste.
Step 3
In a spacious mixing bowl, and add red chilly powder,Turmeric powder and salt.
Step 4
Also add the ground paste and marinate the chicken very well in it.
Step 5
Gather all the ingredients for the filling and keep it ready.
Step 6
Cook all that ingredients until lightly browned.add little garam masala,pepper powder and salt.finally mix one or two boiled egg with that filling.
Step 7
Fill the masala along with egg inside the chicken and tie it with kitchen twin.
Step 8
Pressure let it go for 1 whistle without adding water(keep the flame in medium).
Step 9
Heat the oil in another pan followed by a few crushed garlic. Fry the cooked whole chicken in low flame until all the sides are perfectly done.
Step 10
Malabar Style Stuffed Chicken-Kozhi Nirachathu is ready.
Tip
Marinate for at least 30 minutes if you can — the spices penetrate deeper and the chicken stays juicier.
