Mackerel Rice
Kerala-style flavoured rice — each grain separate, gently spiced, and cooked until it is just tender. A squeeze of lime and a handful of fried cashews finish it off.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3 nos Mackerel
- 11/2 tbsp Red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 nos Onion Large
- 2 nos Tomato Small
- 2 nos Green chilly
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala
- 3 cup Cooked rice
Preparation
Step 1
Marinate the mackerel in red chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste. Heat the oil in a pan and fry both sides until cooked, then convert into a plate.
Step 2
Heat the oil in the same pan and cook onion in it. season with salt to your taste.
Step 3
When the onion turns lightly browned, add crushed ginger garlic and green chillies. cook until the raw smell disappears.
Step 4
Next, add tomato, pepper powder and garam masala. Combine and Continue cooking for 4 to 5 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the bones and shred the fish using a fork. Add it into the masala. Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
Add cooked rice (you can add any kind of cooked rice ) and Fold everything together gently. Turn off the heat.
Step 7
Mackerel rice is ready.
Tip
For each cup of rice, use slightly less water than usual when adding other liquid ingredients like coconut milk or stock.
