Kozhiyada
Ramzan Special - This sizzler which may be called `the relative of Samosa` is a celebrity in ifthars and family gatherings.
Ingredientsfor 6 servings
- 1 cup All purpose flour Maida
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- Water, to taste
- 1 cup Chicken cooked & — shredded
- 1/4 cup Coconut — grated
- 1 tsp Garlic — crushed
- 1 tsp Ginger — crushed
- 1/2 cup Onion — chopped
- 2 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Red chilly powder
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala
- 1/2 tsp Chicken curry masala
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Make a semi hard dough with all purpose flour, salt and water. Set aside.
Step 2
Shred the cooked chicken with fork or food processor and set aside.
Step 3
Set a pan over medium heat and pour in the oil, cook onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies. To this add shredded chicken, grated coconut and cook again.
Step 4
Stir in garam masala and curry leaves. Add required salt and Stir everything together thoroughly. Set aside.
Step 5
Make small balls out of the dough. Roll them out like rotis and stuff the chicken filling.
Step 6
Make into a half moon shape. Seal the edges with a touch of water and twist the edges around the kozhiyada. fry in hot oil till golden brown.
Tip
Marinate for at least 30 minutes if you can — the spices penetrate deeper and the chicken stays juicier.
