Kilikoodu
an important snack on Ifthar menu.Kilikoodu is a special Malabar snack. crispy and crunchy, looks like a Kilikoodu or bird's nest.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 200 g Boneless Chicken — cut into small pieces
- 2 Onion — finely chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic /ginger paste
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
- 4 Green chilli
- 1 Potato
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Vermicelli
- Coriander leaves
- Salt, to taste
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Cook the cleaned chicken pieces with pepper powder,salt and shred it and set aside.
Step 2
Heat 3tbsp of oil in a pan, add chopped onions, ginger, garlic paste, green chillies, pepper, garam masala powders and cook it, stirring well.
Step 3
Add the minced chicken, coriander leaves, salt and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Cook the potato and mash it.Add this to the chicken filling and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 5
Make balls out of this mixture. Dip each balls in beaten egg and roll in Vermicelli.
Step 6
Warm the oil in a pan, fry the kilikoodu on medium heat on both sides till it becomes golden brown and crispy.
Step 7
Kilikoodu is ready. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
Tip
Do not boil the curry hard after adding coconut milk. A gentle simmer is all you need — vigorous boiling can cause the coconut milk to split.
