Kerala Style Raw Papaya Thoran
A quick and easy vegetarian side dish for your main courses. Now a days I was looking out for some different veggies to have with rice and landed right in front of this Raw Papaya.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 medium Raw pappaya
- 1 cup Coconut
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 4 Chillies
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1 tsp Mustard seed
- 2 tbsp Oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the healthy dish, first grate the papaya. Do not grate too thin.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a deep pan. allow to crackle mustard and add grated papaya, salt and turmeric powder. Continue cooking for 4 to 5 minutes.
Step 3
Grind grated coconut and chillies into a coarse paste.
Step 4
Add the coconut mixture and Stir everything together thoroughly and cover for a few minutes. Then open the lid and stir fry until dry. The whole method won't take more than 10 – 15 mts.
Step 5
Serve while still hot with rice.the healthy side dish with your family. Chart out the dish in your weekly menu and make it a point to prepare it at least once a week. Boost up nutrition for healthy tomorrows.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
