Kerala Mutton Curry Nadan Style - Video
Kerala Mutton Curry prepared in style is a special aromatic dish that goes well with almost anything. Mutton pieces are cooked in a blended mixture of roasted red chillies and other ingredients.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 kg Mutton
- 8 nos Dry red chillies (Kollamulaku)
- 3 tsp Coriander seeds
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 2 piece Cinnamon(small (Karugapatta)
- 4 nos Cloves (Grambu)
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 1 cup Pearl onions (Kunjulli)
- 2 nos Onions big
- 10 nos Garlic pods small
- 1 large Ginger
- 2 nos Green chillies
- 2 nos Tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- Coconut oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- 1 Stem Curry leaves
- 2 Stem Coriander leaves
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in a frying pan.
Step 2
Fry the dry red chillies and set aside.
Step 3
Fry coriander seeds, till its aroma comes out and set aside.
Step 4
Fry black pepper, cinnamon sticks, cloves and cumin seeds together and set aside.
Step 5
Stir fry pearl onions, till they turn brown.
Step 6
Blend all these fried ingredients in a mixer grinder.
Step 7
Pressure cook chopped mutton with turmeric powder, salt and the blended mixture.
Step 8
Stir fry onions in a pan, till brown in color, followed by green chillies, crushed garlic and ginger and chopped tomatoes.
Step 9
Add these to the cooked mutton and boil well.
Step 10
When the Kerala Nadan Mutton curry turns brown, turn off the heat.
Step 11
Garnish Kerala Nadan Mutton curry with curry leaves, coriander leaves and a spoon of coconut oil. :- Kerala Nadan Mutton curry is ready.
Step 12
Serve while still hot Kerala Mutton Curry with rice.
Tip
For a thicker gravy, cook uncovered on medium heat for the last few minutes. For a thinner consistency, add a splash of warm water.
