Kerala Easy Potato Curry | Kizhangu Curry
the tastiest and easiest potato curry prepared in less than ten minutes. The dish comes in handy when you are exhausted and tired after a day’s hectic work. Chopped potato is cooked with onion, chillies and other spicy ingredients in a pressure cooker.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3 nos Potatoes — cut into small pieces
- 1 nos Onion — sliced
- 1 nos Tomato — chopped
- 3 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 3 nos Garlic pods — chopped
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup Coriander leaves — chopped
- Salt, to taste
- 1/2 cup Water
- 2 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 2 nos Dry chillies (Kollamulaku)
- 6 nos Curry leaves
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the Dish, first take a pressure cooker and add potatoes, onion, tomato, green chillies, garlic, turmeric powder, chopped coriander leaves, salt and water.
Step 2
Cook, till the first whistle comes or till the potatoes are cooked.
Step 3
Warm the oil in a kadai or a pan.
Step 4
Allow to crackle the mustard seeds and add dry chillies and curry leaves.
Step 5
Add the cooked potato mixture into it and let it bubble for 3 min.
Step 6
Serve the nutritious dish with pooris or chappathis. Since you are cooking in a pressure cooker, the preparation time is very much reduced. Working mothers find this dish very useful. Busy housewives want something And nutritious too. Even bachelors can give a bold try at the dish.
Tip
For a thicker gravy, cook uncovered on medium heat for the last few minutes. For a thinner consistency, add a splash of warm water.
