Kerala Easy Kaalan

Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 3 cup Thick Butter milk Moru
- 2 cup Yam&Raw Bananas(Paccha Kkai)(cut into thin slices) Chena
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Fenugreek powder (Uluva)
- 1 tsp Black pepper powder
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 2-3 nos Green chillies
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tbsp Oil
- 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
- Curry leaves A, a few
Preparation
Step 1
Grind together the grated coconut and the green chillies.
Step 2
Cook yam and bananas in buttermilk with turmeric powder till soft.
Step 3
Add salt, ground paste and cook for few minutes.
Step 4
Heat the coconut oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves and stir fry.
Step 5
Add the buttermilk mixture to this, along with the black pepper and fenugreek powder.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
