Kerala Beef Cutlet
Crispy, golden, and gone before they cool down — these fried snacks are the kind of thing that appears with evening tea and disappears within minutes. Best eaten hot, right out of the oil.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 1/4 kg Beef
- 2 nos Potato Cooked and — mashed
- 3 nos Garlic Cloves — finely chopped
- 1/2 inch Piece Ginger — finely chopped
- 3 nos Green Chillies — finely chopped
- 3 nos Onions — finely chopped
- 2 tsp Garam Masala powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 nos Egg Beaten
- Bread crumbs, as needed
- Vegetable oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Steam the potatoes and mash them.
Step 2
Cook the chunks of meat with salt and turmeric. Mince them.
Step 3
Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a frying pan.
Step 4
Cook chopped onions, ginger and garlic, till the onions turn brown.
Step 5
Add minced beef, garam masala and pepper. Continue to cook for a minute or two.
Step 6
Cool the mixture for a while.
Step 7
Mix the above mixture with the mashed potatoes.
Step 8
Make small oval shaped cutlets of the above mixture.
Step 9
Dip them in beaten egg. Roll in bread crumbs.
Step 10
Fry in hot oil in hot oil to a golden brown crispy texture.
Tip
Oil temperature is critical. Too hot and the outside burns before the inside cooks. Too cool and the snack absorbs oil and turns soggy.
