Prepare to embark on a gastronomic journey into the heart of Kerala's culinary heritage with Kappa Vevichathu, a dish that showcases the timeless allure of mashed tapioca.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 500 g Tapioca(Kappa) Chopped into small pieces
- 1/2 cup Coconut — grated
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeerakam)
- 2 nos Green chillies
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 3 nos Garlic cloves
- Curry leaves, a few
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the delicious and traditional dish, first cook tapioca pieces along with required water and salt in a pressure cooker till done.
Step 2
Drain off the excess water.
Step 3
Grind together grated coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic, curry leaves and turmeric powder along with a little water into a coarse form.
Step 4
Heat up a pan or a kadai.
Step 5
Add cooked tapioca pieces and the coconut mixture and allow it to cook.
Step 6
Give it a good stir, till all the water gets evaporated and it becomes dry.
Step 7
The dish is ready.with meen curry as a side dish.
