Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Raw rice
- 3 tbsp All purpose flour
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1 tsp Black cumin seed
- Salt pinch
- Oil — for frying
Preparation
Step 1
Wash and soak the rice for 4 to 6 hours. Then drain and add it to a mixer grinder.
Step 2
Add sugar,a pinch of salt and water as needed.Grind the rice coarsely.
Step 3
Convert it to a bowl and add all-purpose flour,and make a smooth batter.
Step 4
Add black cumin seed and keep the batter for 6-8 hours for fermentation.The batter should be a smooth flowing consistency. Not too thick or thin.
Step 5
Pour 2-3 tbsp batter in the Appakara, Keep turning the Appam frequently until cooked. Make One side White colour and the other side Brown.
Step 6
Serve it Warm.
Tip
A well-seasoned appachatti is worth the investment. The appam should release from the pan without any resistance.
