Jam Roll
A home-style Kerala dish made with care and the kind of spice knowledge that comes from watching someone else cook it a hundred times. Each step matters, and the result is worth the effort.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- Jam : 1 tsp
- All purpose flour : 3 cups
- Sugar : ½ cup — powdered
- Yeast : 1 tsp
- Milk : 1 cup
- Sugar : ½ cup
- Butter : 1 tsp
- Sesame seeds, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
In a bowl, seive flour, add a pinch of salt.
Step 2
Lightly warm milk, add sugar and yeast. Set aside for 5 minutes.3) Make a space in between the flour, add the milk and butter. Knead it to a smooth dough.
Step 3
Cover it with a wet towel and keep it for 1 hour.5) Take a small portion (like chappathi) and make small chappathi.
Step 4
Spread the jam inside.7) Roll this. Roll this in sesame seeds, Fry it in oil.
Step 5
Keep this refrigerated for ½ an hour to set.9) Cut into rolls and serve.
Step 6
A very Dish for children.
Tip
Do not rush the onion and shallot frying. The difference between pale onions and properly browned onions is the difference between a flat dish and a flavourful one.
