Home Made Cauliflower Thoran
A classic Kerala thoran where mixed meets freshly grated coconut in a quick, dry stir-fry. Mustard seeds crackle in coconut oil, curry leaves crisp up, and the whole thing comes together in minutes.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- Cauliflower : 1 no
- Onion : 1 no
- Mustard : 1 tsp
- Curry leaves : 1 spring
- Green chilly : 4 nos
- Pepper powder : 1 tsp
- Oil : 3 tsp
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Pour oil into a pan and heat it and when it gets hot add mustard in to it.
Step 2
When it allow to crackles add onion, green chilly and curry leaves to it.
Step 3
Cook it, stirring well and add pepper powder to it,give it a good stir.
Step 4
Next, add cauliflower to it and cook it, stirring well.
Step 5
Next, add little water and salt to it.
Step 6
Then close the pan and wait until it gets cooked.
Step 7
When it gets cooked and all the water gets vapourised, transfer to the serving dish.
Tip
Shred the vegetable as fine as you can — the thinner the cuts, the better the thoran. A sharp knife makes all the difference.
