Groundnut Sweet
Roasted groundnuts ground with coconut milk to make sweet dish.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1/2 cup Groundnuts Nilakadala
- 1/2 A Jaggery Sarkara
- 3 Pods Cardamom powder (Elakka)
- 3 tbsp Coconut milk
- 25 g Ghee
Preparation
Step 1
Add some water to the jaggery and melt it over fire. Sieve and keep jaggery aside for cooling.
Step 2
Place a pan on the stove and roast the groundnuts.
Step 3
Add coconut milk to the roasted groundnuts and grind to a paste.
Step 4
Place a small vessel(uruli) on fire. Pour the melted jaggery into the vessel.
Step 5
Add the groundnut paste and give it a good stir.
Step 6
When the consistency thickens, add ghee.
Step 7
Add cardamom powder and mix gently in low fire until a halwa consistency is acquired.
Step 8
Remove from fire and pour into a flat vessel. Cool and serve.
Step 9
Groundnut sweet, a nutritional recipe is ready.
Tip
Ghee quality matters enormously in traditional sweets. Use homemade ghee if you can — the flavour is incomparably richer.
