Green Peas Stew Easy
A tasty delectable vegetarian side dish very popular in Kerala Cuisine. The tasty, creamy, mildly spiced stew dish is one of the favorite dishes with Appam, a popular breakfast dish in Kerala.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 1 cup Green peas(dried
- 1 nos Potato
- 1 nos Carrot
- 1 nos Onion
- 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
- 3 nos Green chillies
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
- 1 cup Thick coconut milk
- 2 cup Thin coconut milk 1 cup thick milk + 1 cup water
- Salt, to taste
- Coriander leaves A, a few
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing the Nutritious side dish, first keep green peas immersed in water till soft preferably overnight.
Step 2
Cut potato and carrot into small square shapes.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a cooker.
Step 4
Add ginger-garlic paste and cook it, stirring till the raw smell is gone.
Step 5
Add chopped onion and chopped green chillies and cook until onion becomes brown in colour.
Step 6
Add all other vegetables along with garam masala, turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt.
Step 7
Add thin coconut milk and cook till vegetables get cooked, preferably 2 whistles.
Step 8
When all vegetables are cooked, add thick coconut milk and heat till boiling starts. Do not boil, put off the flame.
Step 9
Garnish the dish with coriander leaves.
Step 10
Serve curry hot with puttu, chappathi, porotta.
