Fried Calamari
A traditional preparation from Kerala that balances flavour, texture, and aroma in the way that only home cooking can. No two households make it exactly the same, and that is the point.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 12 nos Calamari
- All Purpose Flour - 1/4 cup
- 1/2 tsp Pepper Powder
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- Salt, to taste
- Oil as needed to fry
Preparation
Step 1
Get the cleaned Squid and slice into ring shape. Dry it by using paper towel.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl mix the flour, pepper powder, oregano and salt. Put the dried squid into the flour and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 3
In a frying pan heat the oil in a medium temperature. Place the squid in oil and fry until it becomes light brown color. Make sure it is not over cooked.
Step 4
Goes well with Tomato Ketchup.
Tip
Let the dish rest for a few minutes after cooking. Flavours settle and meld during this time, and the texture often improves.
