Fish Moli
Fresh fish cooked the Kerala way — with coconut, curry leaves, and a tartness that comes from kudampuli or tamarind. Coastal Kerala cooking at its simplest and best.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1/2 kg Any big fish
- 1/2 Onion
- 3 Green chilly
- 1/4 tsp Ginger
- 1/2 tsp Garlic
- 1 Tomato
- 1 ½ Coconut milk
- 1-2 tbsp Corn flour
- Salt, to taste
- Turmeric powder a pinch
Preparation
Step 1
Heat the oil in a sauce pan and sautT ginger and garlic in it.
Step 2
Add onion, green chilly and sautT again.
Step 3
Mix in the coconut milk, salt, turmeric powder and fish. Let it boil.
Step 4
Once the curry boils and fish gets well cooked, pour the corn flour paste and tomato. Simmer the curry in low flame for 3-5 minutes.
Step 5
Goes well with vellayappam or paalappam.
Tip
Never stir a fish curry with a spoon. Shake the pot gently to coat the pieces — stirring breaks them apart.
