Easy Chemmeen Curry
Spicy and tangy flavored Easy Chemmeen Curry speaks volumes and a very favorite dish with South Indians. The tempting dish goes well with rice and with almost anything.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 250 g Prawns Chemmeen
- 400 g Small onions cut long (Kunjulli)
- 6 nos Green chillies cut long
- Fenugreek powder A pinch (Uluva)
- 2 tsp Coriander powder
- 3 tsp Red chilly powder
- Turmeric powder A pinch
- Tamarind paste, as needed
- Curry leaves A, a few
- 4 tbsp Coconut oil
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing Easy Chemmeen Curry, first clean the prawns well.
Step 2
Cut small onions and green chillies.
Step 3
Warm the oil in a pan.
Step 4
Add prawns, onions, green chillies & curry leaves. Fry well, till onion turns light brown.
Step 5
Add all the other powders and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 6
Add salt, tamarind juice and 3 cups of water.
Step 7
Cook, till the gravy thickens.
Step 8
Serve Easy Chemmeen Curry with rice and pulissery.
Tip
Coconut oil and curry leaves at the very end, off the heat, give the curry its characteristic Kerala aroma. Never skip this final step.
