Custard Fruit Salad
A fresh, crunchy side that adds a cool contrast to the spiced dishes on a Kerala meal plate. Light seasoning, fresh ingredients, and a simplicity that lets each component speak for itself.
Ingredientsfor 5 servings
- 1 litre Milk
- 50 g Custard powder 3 tbsp
- 100 g Sugar 4 tbsp
- 2 nos Apple
- 3 nos Banana
- 1 cup Grapes — cut into half
- 2 nos Mango
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 10 nos Marshmallows — optional
- 1/2 Lb Vanilla ice Cream
Preparation
Step 1
Pour 80% of milk into a pan and let boil.
Step 2
Mix custard powder in the remaining milk without lumps.
Step 3
Add this to the pan and keep stirring.
Step 4
Add sugar to this milk and let boil.
Step 5
Keep stirring to prevent burning, turn off the heat when it starts to thicken.
Step 6
Refrigerate after it cools.
Step 7
Cut all the fruits, mix with honey and refrigerate.
Step 8
Just before serving, mix custard with fruits and marshmallows.
Step 9
Dry fruits can also be added to this depending on your taste. :- Serve the Custard Fruit Salad in bowls with a dash of vanilla ice cream on top. :- Serve the Custard Fruit Salad Chilled! :- eating Custard Fruit Salad!
Tip
Fresh curry leaves make a genuine difference. Dried curry leaves are a poor substitute — if you cannot get fresh ones, increase the quantity and fry them longer.
