Colocasia(Chempu) Special Curry
Colocasia(chembu) pieces are cooked with chilly powder and other ingredient and finally added to ground coconut.
Ingredientsfor 3 servings
- 250 g Colocasia Chembu
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- 6 nos Pepper corns — crushed
- 2 nos Garlic
- 1 tsp Chilly powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Curry leaves, a few
- Coconut oil, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Remove the skin and cut the chembu into small 1 inch pieces. Wash well.
Step 2
Place a pan on the stove and add 2 cups of water. Boil and add chembu pieces.
Step 3
Add chilly powder, turmeric powder and required salt. Cook in low heat until colocasia pieces are done.
Step 4
Meanwhile grind coconut with pepper and garlic. Add ground coconut mixture and curry leaves into the colocasia curry.
Step 5
Heat and remove pan from fire. Do not boil the curry. Add some coconut oil and close the pan with a lid.
Step 6
Colocasia(chembu) special curry is ready. Goes well with rice and chappathy.
Tip
Taste the gravy before adding the main ingredient. It should be well-seasoned and balanced on its own — the protein or vegetable will dilute it slightly.
