Coconut Pachadi
A traditional Kerala Sadya dish that carries the flavours of coconut, yogurt, and carefully balanced spices. Each component of the feast has its role, and this one brings a quiet, essential balance to the banana leaf.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 2 cup Beaten curd/Yoghurt
- 1 inch Ginger
- 2 nos Green chillies
- 1 cup Coconut — grated
- Oil — for seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 nos Red chilly
- 1 tsp Black gram (Uzhunnuparippu)
- Curry leaves A, a few
Preparation
Step 1
Grind coconut, green chillies and ginger into a paste.
Step 2
Mix the above paste with the beaten yoghurt.
Step 3
Add salt and Stir everything together thoroughly.
Step 4
Season with mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies and curry leaves.
Step 5
This is a good accompaniment for any curry made without tamarind(kootu variety).
Step 6
This pachadi is also Just eaten with plain rice.
