Chicken Parippuvada
A traditional Kerala sweet snack made with care and a generous hand of ghee. The kind of thing grandmothers make for festivals and grandchildren make excuses to visit for.
Ingredientsfor 4 servings
- 500 g Boneless chicken
- 175 g Chana dal — soaked (Kadalaparippu)
- 1 tsp Chicken powder
- 1 piece Ginger — chopped
- 6 nos Green chillies — chopped
- 2 nos Onion — chopped
- Curry leaves, a few
- 1/2 tsp Cumin powder (Jeerakam)
- Salt, to taste
- Oil, to taste
Preparation
Step 1
For preparing chicken parippuvada, cook the chicken with salt and turmeric.
Step 2
Mince the chicken.
Step 3
Grind the soaked dal.
Step 4
Mix ginger, green chillies, onion, curry leaves, cumin powder, salt and oil.
Step 5
Add minced chicken and ground dal.
Step 6
Make small balls from it and lightly press it.
Step 7
Fry in hot oil it in oil.
Step 8
Chicken parippuvada is ready.
Tip
Jaggery burns easily. Melt it on low heat and always strain it to remove grit before adding it to the mixture.
